JOB OPENING – Indian Education Specialist

Lincoln County School District is accepting on-line applications for the position of Indian Education Specialist.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the instruction process of Native American students to meet their cultural and academic needs.

Knowledge of Native American tribes, history and culture preferred.

Essential job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintains systems for recording participation, progress, attendance and behavior data of American Indian students under the direction of the program administrator.

  • Implements needs-analysis systems, identifying individual Native American students and their needs as directed.

  • Assists with preparation of annual report of Indian Education Program and grant application for continuation of program.

  • Serves as liaison between students, families, staff, parent committee, Native American and non-Native American communities.

  • Attends parent committee meetings as required.

  • Assists with development and implementation of programs to meet the special educational, culturally related needs of Native American students.

  • Assists in the planning and presentation of cultural orientation programs for non-Native American students as required.

  • Directs work activities of students, in coordination with classroom teachers, in the Indian Education Program.

***This position is located in multiple locations – Newport, Eddyville and Waldport

Qualified applicants will be asked for an interview and must provide a resume and at least 2 letters of recommendation. Upon selection, employees will be required to pay for the following:  $12.50 fingerprinting fee and $59 ODE processing fee. This is a 3.5 hour/per school day position.

Starting Salary: $13.13-$15.23 per hour
