Good Morning Newport High!   

No School for students on Monday March 4th.

The NHS Blood Drive is coming up soon and spots are filling up fast! Sign up in the main office or at redcrossblood.org. If you are 16 pick up a parent consent form from the main office. The blood drive will be Wednesday, March 13th from 9:30-2:30. There is a chance to get a 10-dollar gift card if you donate so please include your email when signing up!

This a reminder that the containers for the NHS Pageant coin drive are out by the main office through March 6th, put coins in the container of your choice to help fundraise for the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

For all current 9th, 10th, and 11th graders, there will be an informational football meeting on Tuesday March 5 during Homeroom.  Check in with your teacher then head to the Boone Center.  Coaches will be there to meet players, answer questions, and share information.

Students, there will be dodgeball in the east gym during lunch. Hope to see you there!

Congratulations to the Newport Jazz Band for placing 1st at their Oregon West Conference League Festival yesterday. Our Jazz Band has qualified for the State Jazz Contest!

Oregon Public Universities tour will be on Wednesday March 6th for all juniors during 2nd & 3rd period.  Students need to attend 2nd period for attendance and teachers will walk you to the East Gym.  We will have an overview of all colleges and a college fair.

Students please do not throw away the cafeteria utensils, plates and bowls. Please place them in the bins found in the commons or cafeteria or on the cart near the office. Thank you!

Hey cubs there is a spring fling dance on march 8th, the theme is Barbie. We will be having ticket sales during lunch on the 6th, 7th, and 8th of march. The tickets prices for singles are $7 and the couple price is $12. Wear as much pink as possible and a reminder that the dance starts at 8:30 and ends at 11.  So please come and support the sophomores and celebrate the start of spring. So, come on Barbie, let’s go party at NHS on March 8th. Go cubs!

Congratulations to our boys’ basketball team. They won their play in game against cottage Grove. The boys will play this Friday in Baker Oregon at 8:30 PM. More information will come as far as exactly when they depart. This is the first round of the OSAA State basketball tournament.

Attention all National Honor Society members, our Friday meeting has been rescheduled to next Friday, March 8th due to IO’s going on, and multiple seniors gone. There will be NO National Honor Society meeting tomorrow,

Join Lincoln County School District and community partners for a fun evening of cultural food and dancing, fun activities and so much more on Wednesday February 28th from 5-7:30pm at Taft High School. Hope to see you there!

Are you interested in playing on the boys’ golf team this year? The first team meeting of the season will be in Mr. Flanders room, E19, during lunch. It will take about 10 minutes. Go Cubs!
