The student-athlete must meet Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) academic requirements
In summary, at the end of each semester (on their transcript) a student-athlete must have passed a minimum of five classes. {Only one student aide position will count towards this total and Study Hall is not counted as a class for this purpose.)
If a student-athlete does not have five passing classes on their transcript they remain ineligible throughout the following semester. (OSAA Rule 8.1)
To be scholastically eligible, a student must be making satisfactory progress towards the school’s graduation requirements by earning a minimum of the quantity of credits indicated below, prior to the start of the specified year. If a student-athlete does not meet this requirement, they will be ineligible for the entire school year. (osAA Rule 8.2)
Prior to Sophomore Year: 4.5 Credits
Prior to Junior Year: 10.0 Credits
Prior to Senior Year: 17.00

NHS does weekly academic eligibility reports each Monday.
Beginning the Tuesday of that week, athletes must be passing 5 classes.
If they are not passing 5, they are not allowed to compete until they are passing 5.
Athletes are responsible to come to the Athletic Office to have their progress run again when they are passing 5 classes.
Athletes will be immediately eligible for competition as soon as they are passing 5 classes.
An academically ineligible athlete may continue to practice with their team (up to ten school days.) In fact, it is an expectation that the athlete will continue to participate in practices.
Academically ineligible athletes may not be in uniform at competitions during their ineligibility. The player may sit on the team bench with their coach’s permission.
Academically ineligible athletes may not travel to “away” games if they would miss any classes to do so.
