Dear Athletes, Parents and Guardians,
Newport High School is sad to announce that all LCSD Athletics have been postponed until April 8th. All fields and facilities will be closed at the completion of the school day. The following guidance was released tonight: At this time, all LCSD after school athletic and performance activities (bands, theater, etc.), clubs, or student groups will suspend practicing, performing, or meeting before or after school until April 8th. LCSD will continue to evaluate the situation, work with our affiliate leagues, and follow the guidance from the Oregon Health Authority, State of Oregon, Oregon Department of Education, and Oregon Schools Activities Association.
LCSD will continue to consult Oregon Department of Education, Oregon Health Authority, and Center for Disease Control for further guidance. We understand the importance of extracurricular activities during high school and hope that we can resume normal activities in a timely fashion. We encourage everyone to be cautious and follow all hygiene recommendations. NHS will communicate as more information is announced.
