Dear LCSD Parent/Guardian:
“Test to Stay” Option
We would like to update you about potential new guidelines regarding exclusion and testing for COVID-19 exposure and close contacts while at school or on the bus. Lincoln County School District in accordance with the Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Department of Education, and Lincoln County Public Health is getting ready to offer a “Test to Stay” option for students as soon as it is approved and we have the testing kits.
Update to possible EXCLUSION PROTOCOL:
Upon notification that an unvaccinated student has been exposed to a COVID-19 positive case in school or on the bus, that student will now be able to take a rapid test (BiNax Now antigen test) at school during the school day. Results from this 15 minute test will be used to determine if the student will need to go home and be excluded from school or if they will be able to remain in school.
In order to be ready, there is ACTION REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE:
- Children who are 14 years old or younger will require signed parent permission to “Test to Stay.” Attached to this letter is the consent form. Signing the consent form will allow your unvaccinated student to be tested for COVID-19 while at school through June of 2022. Signed consent forms must be turned into the office.
- For your student to participate in the “Test to Stay” option, they must collect their own specimen by swabbing their own nose under the supervision of a school testing administrator. If they are unable to do this on their own, we may call you to help collect the specimen. You may also choose to work with your healthcare provider to get a test outside of school.
- If you choose not to have your child tested following a COVID-19 exposure, your student will be excluded from school following Public Health recommendations.
We believe that the “Test to Stay” option will support our efforts to keep children in school and reduce unnecessary exclusion for those students who test negative. Vaccinated students will not need to be excluded or tested.

Estimada comunidad del distrito escolar del condado Lincoln
Nos gustaría informarle sobre posibles nuevas guías/pautas con respecto a la exclusión y pruebas por haber sido expuesto, o tenido contacto cercano con COVID-19 mientras están en la escuela o en el autobús. El Distrito Escolar del Condado Lincoln en acuerdo con la Autoridad de Salud de Oregon, el Departamento de Educación de Oregon y la Salud Pública del Condado Lincoln, se están preparando para ofrecer una opción llamada “Test To Stay”/”Prueba para Quedarse” para los estudiantes tan pronto sea aprobada y tengamos el equipo de prueba.
POSIBLE ACTUALIZACIÓN DE PROTOCOLO DE EXCLUSIÓN: Tras la notificación de que un estudiante no vacunado contra el covid-19, ha estado expuesto a un caso positivo de COVID-19 en la escuela o en el autobús, ese estudiante ahora podrá hacerse una prueba rápida (prueba de antígeno BiNax Now) en la escuela durante el día escolar. Los resultados de esta prueba de 15 minutos se utilizarán para determinar si el estudiante tendrá que irse a casa y ser excluido, o si podrá permanecer en la escuela.
Para estar listo SE REQUERIRÁ UNA ACCIÓN PARA PARTICIPAR:
- Los niños que tienen 14 años o menos necesitarán un permiso de consentimiento firmado por los padres para hacerse la nueva prueba “Test to Stay”. Adjunto a esta carta está el formulario de consentimiento. La firma del formulario de consentimiento permitirá que el estudiante no vacunado se someta a la prueba de COVID-19 mientras esté en la escuela hasta junio de 2022. Los formularios de consentimiento firmados deben entregarse en la oficina.
- Para que el estudiante participe en la opción “Test to Stay”, debe colectar, el mismo, su propia muestra frotándose la nariz bajo la supervisión de un administrador de pruebas de la escuela. Si no pueden hacer esto por sí mismos, es posible que lo llamemos para ayudarlo a recolectar la muestra. También puede optar por trabajar con su proveedor de atención médica para hacerse una prueba fuera de la escuela.
- Si elige que su hijo/a no sea examinado después de estar expuesto al COVID-19, su hijo/a será excluido de la escuela siguiendo las recomendaciones de Salud Pública.
Creemos que la opción “Test to Stay” apoyará nuestros esfuerzos para mantener a los niños en la escuela y reducir la exclusión innecesaria de aquellos estudiantes que resulten negativos. Los estudiantes vacunados no necesitarán ser excluidos o examinados.
