Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:
As Dr. Gray stated in her last community letter, it has been a horrific week for many people in Lincoln County due to extreme fires in our area. Thank you to everyone for taking care of yourselves and loved ones. I’ve heard many stories of NHS students and staff helping to evacuate, set up emergency shelters, volunteer and organize housing. If you are impacted, please make sure to let us know how we can support you.
Our Open house has been rescheduled several times with the closures. Thank you for your patience. Please see the information below on important Open House information:
What: NHS Open House
Who: All Registered NHS Students (both Comprehensive Distance Learning and Edmentum)
When: Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 am, 1:00-3:00 pm, and 5:00-7:00 pm. Drop in sessions, no appointments needed
How: Students will enter NHS East Gym from the South Door. Parents are encouraged to stay in their cars on Eads Street. Students who drive, can park across the street. Students will visit several booths including taking their school photo, getting their schedules, picking up school supplies and textbooks/novels, collecting their Chromebook and getting technology support. Students will exit the NHS East Gym North Door. Face coverings and social distancing required.
Why: NHS wants every student to start school with the supplies they need to be successful. Most classes have a textbook, novel, or school supply needed for their course.
Students who cannot attend Open House should call the school to schedule an appointment to pick up supplies. Please call 541-265-9281 starting Thursday if you are need an appointment.
School starts Monday, September 21, 2020. Students should check their school issued email for Google Classroom and Zoom log in information. All students need to complete a technology check before Monday. This can happen at Open House, by completing an online form (sent to school email), or attending a Zoom session Thursday or Friday with school staff.
